About the Event

This month's happy hour will be a unique event co-hosted by the University of Pittsburgh History of Art & Architecture Program and the Pitt Year of Creativity. Despina Stratigakos (author of Where are the Women Architects?) and Lori Brown (co-founder of Architexx) are both designers and professors as well as administraors in the field of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Far from being exclusive to architects, this event is open to all creatives of all genders looking to build equity in the design professions.

We cannot have these conversations in a vacuum. We need to engage our allies and each other in understanding the challenges that face all of us as designers in a world that is neither equal nor equitable. Please join us for happy hour and casual conversation with practitioners and Pitt students and faculty, followed by a public lecture and a reception following.

Evening Schedule:

5:00-6:30pm -- Happy Hour at the University Club Library Bar, cash bar available

6:30-7:30pm -- Public Lecture by Despina Stratigakos, Q&A including Lori Brown; Introduction by Beth McGrew, Associate Vice Chancellor, Planning, Design and Real Estate at the University of Pittsburgh

7:30-8:30pm -- Closing Reception with complimentary refreshments
