About the Event
EVENT UPDATE
Please note that for this event, we are welcoming male allies to join the conversation. We recognize that the work to combat racial injustice crosses gender lines, and the concerted efforts of all genders will be necessary to make true progress. If you are new to our events and community, please be mindful of the safe space we have designed and join us with an open mind, respectful attitude, and thoughful ideas as we work towards equity.
Have you encountered racism and replayed the moment over and over again in your head? What could you have said? What should you have said? Why did you or others stay silent? In this interactive, virtual session will explore effective racist rebuttals and commit to speaking out against racism.
After establishing a shared vocabulary, we will examine common racist comments, actions, and microaggressions that occur from online to the workplace. We will discuss personal experiences and suggestions from experts on how to best confront these acts and work towards being better prepared for the (unfortunately) inevitable "next time."
This event is in response to our community's request to continue the work started with our Antiracism discussions. Please reach out with any additional ideas you have to help us work towards a more equitable community.
