About the Event
As we return to in-person gatherings once again, please join the W+iD Culture Club* in reading The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker and discussing the work and its real-world implications at Trace Brewing! What has changed in ourselves and in the way we socialize, communicate, and collaborate during these past 16+ months? As we reprioritize and transition our personal and professional lives from the virtual and into the "real world," let's strategize how we can best design spaces for productive gatherings and memorable experiences and how to meaningfully contribute as a guest from social outings to office meetings.
As we intentionally gather in the Fireplace Room at Trace, due to the nature of the discussion and the size of the reserved area, this event will have a registration cap. We kindly ask that you are mindful with your RSVP.
*Shifting from our previous virtual morning gatherings to post-work events, the W+iD Breakfast Club is now the Culture Club! (Yes, we are clearly drawn to the 80s references!)
6:00 PM: Welcome
6:15 PM: Intentional Large Group Introductions
6:30 PM: Purposeful Small Group Breakouts
7:00 - 7:30 PM: Regroup + Meaningful Mingling
7:30 PM: Closing Reflections
MORE ABOUT THE ART OF GATHERING:
"In The Art of Gathering, Priya Parker argues that the gatherings in our lives are lackluster and unproductive--which they don't have to be. We rely too much on routine and the conventions of gatherings when we should focus on distinctiveness and the people involved. At a time when coming together is more important than ever, Parker sets forth a human-centered approach to gathering that will help everyone create meaningful, memorable experiences, large and small, for work and for play. Drawing on her expertise as a facilitator of high-powered gatherings around the world, Parker takes us inside events of all kinds to show what works, what doesn't, and why. She investigates a wide array of gatherings--conferences, meetings, a courtroom, a flash-mob party, an Arab-Israeli summer camp--and explains how simple, specific changes can invigorate any group experience. The result is a book that's both journey and guide, full of exciting ideas with real-world applications. The Art of Gathering will forever alter the way you look at your next meeting, industry conference, dinner party, and backyard barbecue--and how you host and attend them."
